Today we’re talking about how to speed up your WordPress website.

Everybody knows that if you want to rank high on Google for your keywords then you’re gonna have to have a fast website.

Speed Up Your WordPress Site

So I’m gonna show you 5 free WordPress plug-ins that will help you to improve your page speed.

Now, there’s caveat; I always think that if you can do something without installing plugins that is always the best option because generally the more plugins you have on your WordPress site the more sluggish it becomes.

With that said these plugins will help you to speed up your website.

W3 Total Cache

So the first one is the most widely respected caching plug-in in my opinion and it’s called W3 Total Cache.

Brands like AT&T, Mashable, and a whole bunch of other massive websites rely on W3 Total Cache.

W3 Total Cache improves the SEO and user experience of your site by increasing website performance, reducing download times via features like content delivery network (CDN) integration.

And just like the plugins on this list, you can get this one on the WordPress.org website.

WP Smush

The second one that I’ve got for you it’s called WP Smush.

This crunches the size of your images and optimizes them for fast delivery across the web.

WP Smush meticulously scans every image you upload – or have already added to your site – cuts all the unnecessary data and scales it for you before adding it to your media library.

WP Optimize

The third plug-in that I’ve got for you is WP Optimize.

We need a fast database if we want a fast website.

WP-Optimize is an effective tool for automatically cleaning your WordPress database so that it runs at maximum efficiency.

WP Super Minify

The fourth plugin we’ve got is WP Super Minify.

This plugin combines, minifies, and caches inline JavaScript and CSS files on demand to speed up page loads, using Minify PHP Framework.

With most WordPress websites the JavaScript and CSS files stored in the header where they get loaded first.

This tends to slow things down so this plugin reduces the amount of time it takes for your page to load by changing how the browser downloads minifying the JavaScript and the CSS files.

Now this won’t give you a massive gain – I think it’s between 2% and 4%, but still in itself isn’t too bad.

If you really want to squeeze as much speed as possible out of your pages this plugin might be for you.

BJ Lazy Load

And finally we’ve also got the BJ Lazy Load.

This plugin replaces all your post images, post thumbnails, gravatar images and content iframes with a placeholder and loads the content as it gets close to enter the browser window when the visitor scrolls the page. Also works with text widgets.

This is another fantastic plug-in because it only downloads the content of your page to the end user when they need it.

Typically, as soon as you hit a web page all the data and content on that page is sent immediately.

What this plug-in does it breaks it up so your visitors only get a chunk at a time and that makes for a very fast user experience.

It’s a really slick plugin and one that I really do recommend.

So there you go, now you know how to speed up your WordPress website and get higher ranking on Google as a result.
