How Bill Gates Predicted The Secret To Residual Income Online

If Bill Gates promised to give you the secret to making residual income online you’d sit up and pay attention, right?

Well, it might sound a little weird, but I promise you this works.

But first let me tell you a true story.

A True Story

I used to have two jobs.

I was cleaning toilets for a living in both; one in a supermarket and the other in a school. And I had to get up at 4am every morning, and it was horrible. So everyday at work I’d daydream about becoming rich.

Not just financially rich, but also mentally, and emotionally rich. Feeling proud of my life. Having freedom.

But do me a favour ok, tell me what your goal is. Tell me in the comments why you’re doing this, what you want your life to look like, and why you want to build an internet business.

When we write things down, it becomes a little clearer and easier to achieve.

I wish I knew this stuff years ago. You see, I’d have these imaginary arguments with my boss, where I marched into her office to tell her I quit. That I fired her

But I didn’t know how to make it happen.

I’d dropped out of school to go work in one. I had no education. No skills. No real life experience.

I was trapped in a dead end job, with a boss who hated me.

And in truth, it even took me over a decade to really figure out how to make money on the Internet.

And not just money, but freedom too. Because there’s no point in making money if you don’t have the freedom to enjoy it, right?

Even when I started a hobby website in 2004 and decided to go “full time online”, it took me three years just to get significant traffic.

And I still didn’t know how to monetize it properly.

Who’d have thought becoming rich is hard, right?

Making Residual Income

But when I did eventually figure it out, it turns out the secret was staring me right in the face all along. You only need three things.

I’ll tell you what the secret is, and it might sound a little weird, but it works for my students.

And if you want to know which strategies they used, I’ll give you an extra resource at the end of this lesson.

You see, as weird as it sounds, the first secret to becoming rich is to stop focusing on the money.

And that’s because the amount of money you make is directly proportional to the amount of value you deliver.

I’ll say that again because it’s possibly the most important lesson you’ll ever learn.

“The amount of money you make is directly proportional to the amount of value you deliver.”

If you ignore that principle, or look for a shortcut, then you’re going to stay exactly where you are right now.

You’ll continue to struggle to make sense of this digital marketing stuff. You’ll continue to work for someone else. Continue to feel trapped. You’ll continue to day-dream, just like I used to.

But when you embrace this, it changes everything.

How Everything Changes

It doesn’t happen overnight, and it takes a lot of hard work. But if you’re consistent, then your life will slowly begin to change.

Success and wealth becomes a consequence of the value you deliver.

And whatever constitutes “value” will mean different things, to different industries.

But I’m going to assume you want to make money on the Internet. You probably want to make passive income, you value your time, you want freedom and security that you know is possible, but there’s a missing piece of the puzzle, right?

And most importantly, you probably have realistic expectations.

Ask Yourself This Question

So how do you deliver value on the Internet?

Ok, ask yourself this. Why do people go on the Internet in the first place? Think about it. Why do YOU go on the Internet?

Well, way back in 1996 I read a life-changing quote from Bill Gates. He said:

Content is where I expect much of the real money will be made on the Internet”

Now, the term “content” is very wide and it’s open to interpretation. So I’ll share what’s working for me.

And the biggest question I had when I first started out was; ‘what to write about?’

The simple answer is; write what you know.

Write about your experiences. Your successes. Your failures. And find the lesson in them.

Share the lesson. Tap into your own life and bring that to the page. And that immediately makes you human. And to communicate in a way that appears human on the internet, is very powerful.

So share your wins. Share your pain. Share your aspirations. And share your journey to get there.

If you want to enter a niche, where you don’t have much experience, or any contacts, or any results to show, then be honest about that.

People will follow you even if you don’t have amazing results to show. In some cases that can actually work in your benefit.

But the point is, if you’re consistent, then people will follow you because you have the courage to reach for what you want.

You’ll motivate and inspire people by just sharing your journey.

Page one, of your brand new website should be all about you. Your mission. Your hopes. Your dreams.

And then, from that point onwards, you document your journey. If you try something and it doesn’t work, that’s ok, write it down and share it. Don’t hide your mistakes. Maybe you can save other people from making them. Or maybe they can improve it.

Consistency Is Key

The first part of the secret to becoming rich, in all senses of the word, is to stop focusing on the money and share valuable, educational content instead.

The second part is to ask people to take action. While you’re creating valuable content, you’re also asking them to do something else that will benefit your business.

It could be to share your content, or it could be something that benefits both of you, like to purchase a product or to join your email list.

Whatever you ask them to do will depend on your business model. And if you’ve delivered enough value, then you bet they will take action if it means they can get more from you.

And the third part of the secret to becoming rich, is to be consistent.

Make working on your business part of your routine. Even if it’s just 20 minutes a day, because over time, that effort compounds and begins to snowball.

And when you’re consistent you won’t believe what kind of amazing things you can achieve.
