Today we’re going to talk about an essential element of persuasion..

I’m going to show you how you can immediately create powerful headlines, anytime you like and whenever you need to.

You probably already know that most copywriters, entrepreneurs and marketers frequently spend just as much time crafting their headlines, as they do writing the actual sales copy.

And that’s a smart thing to do..

I’ve written this for you, so this info is going to be of great help to you, if you’re stuck for ideas right now or if you ever get stuck for ideas in the future, so bookmark it now and keep it handy for whenever you need it.

I’m going to give you a simple yet effective way to make your headline stand out, grab and hold the immediate attention of your prospect and influence them to carry on reading the next part of your sales letter, advertisement or sales video..

You see, because it’s often the first thing that your prospect will see, your headline needs to do a couple of things..

The first one is to qualify..

That means it has to speak directly and solely to your whoever your ideal customer is..

To find out who your ideal customer is, use the Customer Avatar Worksheet inside the members area, it’s got everything you need.

So anyway, for example, let’s pretend you have a sales page and you’re selling.. I dunno.. Something like… a natural and instant way to get relief from back pain.. then you’re not going to talk about a general kind of pain, you’re not going to focus on other types of pain… like a headache..

You’re going to keep things very specific and only talk to people who suffer from back pain.. I mean, ok your product might also ease pain elsewhere, and that’s great, if that’s the case, you’d then create a different sales page for each type of pain that you can remedy..

But in this instance.. and with this sales experience.. It’s not just the headline, but also the entire sales copy that is ONLY geared towards helping people who suffer from back pain, and nobody else.

Or another example could be.. if your prospect wants to lose weight so she can fit into her wedding dress in 3 months time, then you’re not going to have the same conversation with someone who wants to lose weight because she’s just had a baby..

Do you see how we use the headline to qualify and make sure we’re selling to the right people?

We do this so you can quickly build rapport with your prospect… so they feel like you know their situation and understand their problem. So, if a prospect has back pain.. if you, were to speak about.. headaches, for example, your customer might not connect with that because it’s not relevant to their current needs..

For that reason, the headline will make sure that the right kind of people engage with your message..

The other thing the headline needs to do, is to motivate your prospect to read more of the page.. If it doesn’t motivate them to carry on reading, then it’s unlikely that you’re going to get the sale..

Right? So your headline needs to do both of these things to work properly.. grab attention and then motivate.

Ok, so now we know WHAT makes a strong headline..

I’ll show you HOW to do it right now..

The quickest way to start is to just tell them what the biggest benefit is, of whatever you’re selling. Once you know what that is, we can use a whole range of desires to grab their attention and motivate them.. In this example I’m going to use 4, they are… Self interest.. News, curiosity.. And a way for them to get quick and easy results.

I’ll go through each of these in more detail now, but they are just a handful of the powerful sales motivators that I cover in more depth inside the members area, if you’re already a member that video will be available to you very soon..

So let’s take a look at the first way to grab attention.. And that’s to use ‘Self interest’ because it’s a powerful and most people are generally interested in themselves above everything else… so a shortcut to using this could be to just include a personal benefit… things like.. To improve their relationship.. To become healthier.. To make better financial decisions.. Think about whatever is relevant to your niche…

Then we can make use of ‘news’, as another powerful way to grab attention.. People want to know what’s happening, they want to know what’s new, what’s current.. They like being among the first to hear about something.. So a shortcut to adding news to your headline, could be to simply announce the availability of your product..

Now ‘curiosity’.. We use this to encourage your prospect to read the rest of your sales page.. So we don’t reveal everything in the headline..

Look at how magazines have mastered this.. They tell you some of the story, just enough to tease your interest.. You see, people are naturally curious.. The best example of using general curiosity in a headline, would be to include the word SEX.. but we don’t want the headline to be general, yours needs to be specific to your audience..

It’s also a good idea to keep it short because readability decreases with length of the headline. The longer the sentence, the less readable it becomes.. So keep it short and to the point.. And studies have shown than if you include quote marks, then readability can increase by around 25 percent..

Make the headline authoritative.. Avoid wimpy or weak headlines.. It needs to pull no punches.. Be direct and figuratively speaking.. Smack people in the face so they sit up and take notice.. It needs to trigger an emotional response…
