I feel kinda stupid admitting this.. but…

When I first started out I didn’t have a clue what a niche actually was

Shamefully, the importance of finding a profitable niche didn’t hit me until I was already up and running…

..about 3 years too late. ..

I was building a high traffic website that didn’t belong to any of the profitable evergreen niches that I’m sharing with you here..

Granted, the website became profitable eventually, but it took a lot more time and effort than I would have liked..

..and it took huge amounts of media exposure.

As a result of scratching my head for so long, as to why I wasn’t making as money as I thought I deserved, I finally decided to ‘get with the program’ and study profitable niches.

Here is what I ultimately discovered, so you don’t make the same mistake.

This is taken from The Easy Peasy Newbie Guide, in a chapter were we look at niche marketing and ask: what is a niche?

Markets vs niches:

  • Markets are massive, highly competitive
  • Niches are small subsections of markets
  • Choose a niche within an ‘evergreen’ market

Evergreen markets are:

  • Lifestyle
  • Money
  • Health

Profitable niches in the lifestyle market are:

  • Pets
  • Dating / Relationships
  • Communities
  • Green / Alternative energy
  • Self improvement
  • Domestic / Home improvement
  • Personal development
  • Mind, body & spirit
  • Gardening
  • Automotive
  • Hobbies
  • Sports
  • Food

Profitable niches in the health market:

  • Weight loss / Diets
  • Keep fit
  • Weight gain / muscle building
  • Vitamins
  • Energy
  • Quit smoking
  • Personal medical problems
  • Alternative therapies / holistic
  • Children’s health
  • Addiction

Profitable niches in the money market:

  • Internet marketing
  • Biz op
  • Foreclosures
  • Work at home
  • Starting a business
  • Forex
  • Insurance
  • Real estate

So now you know the most profitable niches, it’s time to do something with this golden info..

Open a notepad and write down:

  • Your hobbies
  • Your skills
  • Things you enjoy
  • Times you have helped others
  • Topics you would like to learn more about

There’s a lot to take in here, but if you break each one down and look at the niches inside each market, it becomes easy to manage.

Personally, I would look at which of my passions fall into each markets.

For example.. do you have pets?

Even a fish tank would do… I love aquariums and have set up a few over the years.. even though I’ve read several read books about the subject I don’t consider myself an expert. And that’s OK.

Because I don’t need to be.

To enter a niche that you feel passionately about you just need to have a little bit more knowledge than a newbie.

OK, some people will argue that they could just get the same information from reading a book.

I don’t agree. Let’s imagine that your customer wants to set up a fish tank for the first time.

What is a better option for the customer?

Spending hours reading a book, having a crack at things on their own and hoping they get it right first time around?

Or…

Giving them a simplified quick-start guide that removes all the pain and headaches, shows them exactly how to do it step-by-step and if they have any questions then they can easily get your support the very same day?

It’s a no-brainier, right?

This is the model we’re moving towards.. it’s simple, it works and it provides a better experience for the customer.

Of course books aren’t going anywhere, thankfully. What we’re doing is offering shortcuts and results driven experiences.

Which of your passions would you turn into profit? Comment below.
