Today’s article is going to be a little different from the ones I usually share here. Most of the blogs here are tutorials, training courses or other helpful tips, but I feel this is an important piece to share with you. So, I’m going to give you eight inspirational quotes that you absolutely must hear, to help you succeed and stay motivated.

How many of us have experienced this feeling? I know that I for one have given up and felt like there was no hope on more than one occasion. If you follow my Profit Copilot videos, blog posts and podcasts, you’ll know that I like to repeat the phrase, “do something today that you’re going to be thankful for tomorrow”.

Tomorrow might actually be six months down the road, but this reinforces my belief in that expression, and the results I’ve seen reinforce it as well. When you make a choice and act today, you will see the positive impact of that choice, whether it be tomorrow or weeks or months later. Action always pays off, but if you don’t act, you can never truly achieve anything.

Its only through the consistent work that I put into my websites and businesses that I gain the results and success I want. Remember this one when taking on ventures of your own.

This is an important one because it encourages you to educate yourself. All of us need to continue our education. Think about the last training course that you purchased or enrolled in. Did you complete it fully? Did you implement it all? If not, don’t start another until you have gone through and utilized and gotten the maximum you can out of what you are already learning. I’ve seen the rewards one can gain by doing this. You must keep training yourself, and although that may take time and money, it’s worth it all in the end. You are bettering yourself and your situation when you educate yourself.

I interpret this as saying you can succeed even if you don’t have the world-class skills that some others may have in your field. You can achieve success through hard work and a little bit of strategic thinking. Now, I do know that hard work alone isn’t going to get you as far as you want it to. You’ll also need to plan and to educate yourself as some of the other quotes in this post have discussed.

Let’s think about this quote for a second. If someone believes in you -someone who has achieved what you want to achieve or has the ability to show you how to be successful where you want to be successful- then you are more inclined to go ahead and do exactly what you need to do, to get to where you need to be. Believing in yourself is one of the greatest keys to success that you can learn. And having a more successful individual who also believes in you, is a huge help in gaining that ability to believe in and trust your skills and abilities.

I believe everything in life is a cycle.

This cycle starts with how we perceive the world and how we perceive ourselves. This forms our core belief system, and sometimes that belief system is also determined by the results we see, which are often due to the action we take toward our goals.

If you want to change your beliefs, especially in your own abilities (and you must!) then you need to change your actions. Actions then change results, results change beliefs, so on and so forth. If you are experiencing failure frequently, you may start to believe you yourself are a failure, but this is simply not true.

So many of us are often in this state of mind where nothing works, feeling as though everything we do is failing, and as strange as it sounds, that’s completely normal. Failure is a part of the journey to success. Successful people have failed many, many times before they achieved their goals. So, if you ever feel this way, just remember; the more failure you have behind you, the closer you are to reaching your goals!

Always acknowledge the small wins and the small victories. These victories compound over time and you’ll begin to notice that they are leading you to bigger accomplishments, and in time; the success you’ve been working so hard to achieve. Give yourself time to celebrate these victories, no matter the size.

How To Monetize Your Blog The Right Way (Even If You Have Low Traffic)


Well, that’s an understatement; I was livid, on the verge of throwing in the towel.

In that moment I’d convinced myself that all this blogging malarkey was just nonsense. Just a pipe dream; something for other people to figure out, but not me.

I’d tried everything I could think of, nothing worked.

But the thing is, my metrics looked solid. Traffic wasn’t a problem, but making an income from it was a struggle.

And it still took years for things to ‘click’ properly.

So today I want to give you a shortcut and maybe it will save you years of the same struggle.

You’re about to learn how to monetize your blog the right way.

And I’m going to take you down a slightly different avenue than you might be expecting.

Phew! You Can Forget The Usual Suspects

Pretty much every other blog post about this stuff will tell you to monetise your site with CPM (banner ads / Adsense) so we’re going to avoid that today, and we’re not going to worry about Click Through Rates (CTR) or ‘earnings per impression’.

Instead, we’re going to focus on building a machine a system that will monetize your website the right way – even if you don’t have much traffic.

Other common monetization strategy we see bloggers raving about is sponsored posts and product reviews, both of which require you to have a real high-traffic website if you want to make decent money from it.

Today we’re going to look at a method that works or even if you have a low traffic blog. I know people who are making a killing from this, even from around 50 visitors a day.

And that’s because it’s the right kind of traffic; ultra targeted.

The System Perfect For Low-Traffic Blogs

That means you’re going to do pretty well from this method, without too much extra work; you’ve already done the hard bit.

I know that because this is the exact system that use on most of my websites now, so I’m speaking from hands-on experience.

For example, I’ve built websites that have huge followings… tens of thousands of people visiting every single day, while some of my others websites (that I spend less time on) receive less than 100 visitors a day.

So this works right across the board, no matter where you’re currently at with your blogging journey.

To help me illustrate this I’m going to examine one of my students’ websites.

Sanjay sent me an email asking if I had any advice to help him monetize his blog so of course (because he’s one of my students) I’m going to go out of my way to help him out.

And as a result you might benefit from this too.

Common Problems You Didn’t Know Existed

So, this is Sanjay’s blog, and we’ve got a few problems here.

The first one really leaps off the page, can you see what it is?

Sanjay isn’t collecting email addresses.

This is important.

Ok, looking at this page there’s some awesome space at the top, and I would do is replace that space with an opt-in form and a strong call to action.

Typically, you’d offer some kind of freebie in exchange for email addresses, this is called a lead magnet, or an ethical bribe.

Secondly, instead of using the empty sidebar space (that’s waiting for banner ads), I would also use that space to start collecting email addresses.

That gives blog visitors at least two opportunities, above the fold, to subscribe to your email list.

Now, it’s easy to start collecting email addresses but that advice on its own is a little bit useless unless we know exactly what your
blog visitors want.

How to Listen To Your Visitors

Finding out what your visitors want is easy, and you don’t have to ask them either – they’re already telling you, once you know how to listen.

How do you listen?

By looking at the right metrics in Google Analytics because all the data we need to know is already there for us.

Why don’t we run a survey?

Well, we can – and it’s a good idea if you have a sizeable following that’s willing to give you honest feedback, but I’m going to assume that you don’t have a massive audience yet.

So we turn to Google Analytics – the data is solid, and it gives us an accurate picture about our blogs.

And there’s only 2 metrics that we really need to pay attention to, at this stage.

First, take a look at the most popular pages on your website.

This tells you exactly what people want and why they’re coming to your website.

Secondly, we can look at the most popular traffic sources – then we know what type of content our visitors are consuming before they land on our blog.

Smart Lead Generation

There are two strategies when it comes to collecting leads on your blog.

The first way is to have one general lead magnet running across the entire site.

This is the easiest way to get up and running. Start with one lead magnet that solves one problem.

Another way to do is to segment your traffic and run different lead magnets for each topic you cover. For example, you could create a specific lead magnet for each of your blog categories, so it becomes highly targeted and matches each article.

If you were to go down this road, I would encourage you to choose the most popular categories to begin with.

Listen if you’re not willing to invest in an email marketing platform at the moment you have plenty of free options out there:

  • MailerLite
  • SendinBlue
  • MailChimp

I haven’t used any of these personally so I can’t vouch for their ease of use, or deliverability.

If you’re willing to stump up a few bucks then I can recommend:

  • Aweber
  • ActiveCampaign
  • Kartra

Out of those, the ones I recommend most are ActiveCampaign or Kartra – they have the most advanced features, but they might be overkill.

And read the Terms of Service of every single platform before signing up and before following my advice.

It’s your duty to make sure that they allow the stuff that I’m going to suggest, the ToS can change overnight.

Ok, now I’m going to assume that you have your email platform selected, you’re up and running (with the opt-in forms on your site) and collecting email addresses.

The Marketing Funnel

You’ve probably heard of marketing funnels, (they’re sometimes called pipelines).

Here’s an easy way to understand funnels; you only really need to know three parts – although some insist there’s at least nine parts, I like to keep things simple.

We’ve got:

  • Top of the funnel (ToF)
  • Middle of the funnel (MoF)
  • Bottom of the funnel (BoF)

And each stage of the funnel has a corresponding type of traffic:

  • Cold traffic (ToF)
  • Warm traffic (MoF)
  • Hot traffic (BoF)

Let’s go through each stage, so you get the full picture.

Top of Funnel

At the ToF stage were we are making visitors aware of their problem; this is the awareness stage.

Your visitors might be asking search engines ‘how to’ questions, for example “how to monetize my blog”.

See what I did there? Now you’re getting it.

It’s the first point of contact with you; your blog posts should be ToF content to attract the right kind of visitors.

Once they’ve landed on your blog, received value from your content, it’s time to move them down to the second stage of the funnel; MoF.

Middle of Funnel

This is where your lead magnet steps in.

We can use the ethical bribe to entice visitors to subscribe to the email list.

This is the interest stage of the funnel.

The lead magnet should be something closely related to the ToF content. We could use short ebooks, cheat sheets, checklists, videos, mini courses, there are dozens of lead magnets we could use.

No matter what format you choose, it must be desirable to your visitors and deliver a quick win.

Pro tip:

If you embed affiliate links inside your lead magnet, you can generate extra profit.

But that’s not the MOST effective way to increase your revenue. Which brings us to the BoF stage.

Bottom of Funnel

Ok, let’s stop and take a look at the journey you’ve just taken your visitors on.

You’ve educated them about a problem, and given them a quick win to help them solve it.

You’ve delivered a lot of value, for free – and you haven’t asked for anything in return. You’ve started to build a relationship with them, and demonstrated that you’re able to help them.

So now at the bottom of funnel stage we’re explicitly asking them take action and buy something.

This can be your own product, a service, coaching, or affiliate offers.

At this stage the traffic is at its warmest and (ideally) ready to move forward.

But only a small percentage will actually do that.

Remember they can always choose to do nothing – and that’s what most people will do, they’ll continue to struggle. Or they’ll move onto someone else, and that’s fine too.

We only need a small number of people to take action, anyway.

So to re-engage the people who initially said no, which is the majority, we need to have a follow up sequence.

The Follow Up

This is where you make the most of your money, it’s through the back end of a funnel.

It’s the invisible stuff that we don’t really see unless we’re in a funnel.

I’m going to show you how to do that now. Let’s build the actual engine that drives profit.

This is the process so far; a visitor lands on your blog post, then they will fill-in your opt in form.

Now two things will  happen.

The first one; they’re redirected to Thank You page or a Sales Page. They have the immediate option to buy.

The second thing; they’re added to an email list.

Most people will not be ready to buy so they’ll go directly to their inbox to get the free download you sent them.

And that’s okay.

So we send them a series of high value emails to continue building the relationship and increasing the trust.

I recommend giving LOTS of value in that email sequence.

Useful, actionable information that your leads can get results with is best.

Once you’ve delivered enough value, you earn the right to pitch. People will tolerate sales pitches if you provide enough value first.

In most instances making the pitch is pretty easy because you’re just making a product recommendation that matches with the value you’ve already delivered.

Here’s a few angles you could use:

  • Day 1 – ‘Download your free report’
  • Day 2 – ‘3 easy to ways to X’
  • Day 3 – ‘7 common mistakes’

Inside each email you can embed affiliate links to relevant products.

It can be a different product recommendation in each email, or it can be for just one. That’s entirely up to you.

And you can run this type of campaign for as long as you like.

It’s an incredibly profitable engine to build.

The Entire System

Here’s how it looks when it’s completed:

It’s a pretty simple and elegant system when we zoom out and look at the bigger picture.

Ok, this is going to take a little bit of time to get up and running it’s gonna take you a couple of hours to put all the pieces together, but once you know what your visitors want and you know how to help them – that is where you will make your money.

All you have to do is break it down step by step, into little manual manageable chunks.

Each chunk, which I’ve given you here, is easy to do.

So go ahead and get an opt-in form installed on your website.

Find a relevant offer on ClickBank (or even on Amazon if you don’t mind earning 4% commission rate instead of a 50%).

Then give you blog visitors solid and actionable tips that help them move them forward.

Finally, follow up that value with a little pitch.

This works really well.

Just look at anyone who’s successful online and you’ll probably notice they’re all doing this kind of thing.

And doesn’t matter if they’re running traffic straight to a squeeze page or to a blog post, this is the system most successful bloggers are using.

Retargeting Campaigns Demystified

One of the best ways to get traffic to your website, quickly, is to use a Facebook retargeting campaign.

You’ll need to install the Facebook pixel – a small piece of code that ethically tracks your blog visitors.

It works like this; when a visitor lands on your blog it tells Facebook about it.

If you have a retargeting campaign set up, you can have an advert displayed to just those people on Facebook, through creating a custom

You can also create a lookalike audience based on your visitors, but that’s beyond the scope of this post.

So to make use of this info could be to run an advert that promotes your lead magnet to all the people who didn’t opt-in while they were on your blog.

Because these visitors are now warm, they know who you are, they’re more likely to subscribe.

And since you’re only using a custom audience it means your costs are going to be low and you’re not going to spend a fortune on Facebook ads with this method.

It’s a quick and easy way to get traffic.

The 3 Ways to Make Passive Income

  • Ad Revenue and Sponsored Ads

This is the first passive income system that I used.

I have had some success with it.

These are banner ads.

I’m sure we’re all familiar with banner ads.

Then there can also be sponsored posts.

I’ve had success with both of these, though I’ve had more success with responsive posts than banner ads.

How does it work?

It works like this – you get paid either a flat fee, PPC, or CPM.

  • Flat fee: A flat fee can be, say a $150 for a sponsored post.

You can get paid through every click that banner ad receives, which is typically fairly low.

  • CPM: CPM is that for every 1000 people who see that banner ad, you earn somewhere between 10 cents and $5, depending on your website, all the traffic combined and on your niche.

Some platforms use a mix of CPM and PPC (pay-per-click).

This business model and this passive income system is good for viral and high traffic websites.

If you have a low traffic website, I would probably give it a miss for the moment.

My highest earning using this passive income method…

My personal highest earnings per month using this passive income system has been around $3,000 per month.

Which is okay, it’s enough to live on.

A hundred percent of my income was made through ad revenue at one point in my life.

Passive Income Systems I recommend for this method

So, if you like the idea of this passive income system, I will recommend using:

  • Google Adsense

They tend to have the highest CPM and click-through rate payouts in the business.

  • Adblade

You can also use ad blade. I’ve had great success with Adblade

  • Taboolah
  • Buy Sell Ads

You can list your website on buy sell ads, and then deal directly with advertisers.

This way you can earn more revenue instead of using a middleman.

  • Affiliate Marketing

The second most profitable passive income system that I have used is affiliate marketing.

In this, you earn a commission based on referrals.

So, you refer people to a product, and you earn a commission.

  • Physical products (low commission)

Now when it comes to physical products, the commission is typically a lot lower.

I think at Amazon it starts around 4% of every sale.

  • Digital products (high commission)

Digital products command a much higher commission.

That’s between 50% and 75% per sale.

If you’re interested in affiliate marketing, I would absolutely recommend that you start with digital products first, because you get to earn a lot more.

This works best with email marketing, not cold traffic.

So a lot of people enter affiliate marketing using banner ads.

They put ads and links on their website to a sales page.

And it doesn’t convert.

Value-based marketing

(value+pitch = profit)

The best way to get that conversion happening is through an email list.

You do value based marketing.

So, you deliver high quality, educational, and transformational content to your audience – your email list, and then you make a pitch.

So, you’re warming people up first before going straight in for the pitch.

My earning through affiliate marketing…

My highest earnings per month from affiliate marketing has been relatively low.

It’s been about $4,000 per month.

Which is still enough to live on.

But if you’re interested in this business model, then I can recommend Amazon if you want to sell physical products.

When it comes to selling physical products, I would encourage you to sell high ticket items – things like big HD TVs, etc instead of small items.

For digital products, Clickbank is a good starting point.

JVzoo and Warrior Plus, these are all great sources of digital products that you can earn a commission on.

Info Products

The single most profitable passive income system for me has been info products.

These are ebooks online, courses, masterminds.

This is true passive income.

  • You automate a sale system.
  • Once it’s set up, it just runs forever.

The e-learning industry is insanely lucrative.

The best thing is these digital products are very easy to make.

You probably already have everything you need to get started if you can use Google Docs or Microsoft Word, or PowerPoint.

You already have everything you need to make digital information products.

These things are just ebooks.

And even the more advanced ones just use slides.

Exactly like I’m doing right now.

And they sell so well because customers buy for experience not for qualifications.

What I mean by that is if you have hands-on experience in something, and you figured out a quick way to achieve results – people will buy that.

People want results.

They’re not interested in learning the background, and the theory, and all the boring book learning stuff that these traditional experts will sell them.

People just want to get the results fast.

And they want to buy from people who are like them.

Who have been in a similar situation to them and managed to overcome those problems.

This is why the info product industry is so lucrative.

My earning using info products…

I know from personal experience how lucrative it can be, because my highest earnings from selling information products has been $12,000 per month.

So, if you like the idea of selling your own information products then you can sell them on:

  • Your site
  • Udemy
  • Teachable

Is it best to build one niche website or is it best to build multiple sites in the same niche?

Today I’m going to answer an email question asked by one of my students, Colin.

Colin says: 

“Hi Mick!

I would very much appreciate your advice. I am attracted to the health market and almost certainly to an authority blog, with a broad domain name and sub-niches.

The alternative will be to build separate sites, each specific to a single issue. What would you recommend?

Maybe you think this is not a good sector for affiliate marketing and creating my own info products.”

It is a really interesting question, and I think everyone can benefit from the answer.

I’ve received this question multiple times, since I started teaching people how to build affiliate sites.

Here’s the answer:

Build one website.

Don’t do multiple sites in the same niche.

Colin’s first thought of building one website (one authority blog) was the right one.

Except, he’s starting out too broad.

You may keep it in the back of your mind and have a broad domain name, that you are going to someday expand into an authority website.

However, understand that it is going to take time.

It’s going to take a lot of hard work and dedication to achieve that.

But it is achievable. If you’re prepared to put in the work, you’ll be fine.

What you need to do?

  • Start with one issue.
    Pick one issue, for example, take joint pain, and start with just that.

Just focus on getting the top of the funnel content working.

  • Then, bring your people to the middle of the funnel.
  • And then finally, to the bottom of the funnel.

Here’s how you go about doing it…

  • Start with five blog posts for your authority website.

Now, each one of these posts will be like an introduction to the problem people might be facing.

  • Use that content to pull people further into your sales funnel by offering them a lead magnet.

This will pull them down to the middle section of the funnel.

  • You then use that lead magnet to bring them down to the bottom section.

For this, you either promote someone else’s products or your own.

  • Then, you use the follow-up sequences on your autoresponder to really ramp up your profits from that one individual prospect.

So, you start with one and get that working first.

Get that funnel running like clockwork.

Once that’s profitable, move on to the next topic that you want to talk about.

Other Tips

  • Get as specific as possible whenever you plan out the content.

In this particular case, the next topic could be weight loss, which in itself is so vast.

So get to the specifics. “Weight loss for who?”

Write down the specifics and then work accordingly.

  • Think about the person who will ultimately buy the product.

That’s who you have to aim for.

It’s easy to say someone who wants to lose weight.

Almost everybody wants to lose weight!

But not everybody is motivated to buy a product that will help them lose weight.

One of my favourite examples is from Pagan who says,

My thoughts on building an authority website

I think authority website is an absolute going to be the way forward for digital marketers and entrepreneurs.

One day people will come to the realization that building an authority website is a great if you want free traffic forever.

Building an authority website is the only way to do it.

Unless you get a viral hit every now and then, but that is easier said than done, right?

So that’s my answer:

  • Get as niche-specific as possible.
  • Just get one funnel working, and then think about expanding.

In Colin’s case, there’s so much going on. Plan ahead – have a five-year plan to get all the content you’re aiming for on your website eventually.

But for the present, focus on that one funnel. Get that one funnel converting for you, then get to the next one.

  • Once you have these funnels converting, you’re going to have the revenue. You’ll be able to invest it into your website.

Use the funnels to fund the development and the growth of the authority website.

7 Marketing Books You Need To Read ASAP

Today I’m going to go through 7 marketing books that you need to read.

You’ve probably heard of some of them, but these are books that I have found very inspirational not only just in business but also in life.

So today I’m going to give you something a little bit different. I’m going to go through 7 books I that have had a big impact on my business and on me personally.

The Guerrilla Marketing Revolution

I’m going to start with The Guerrilla Marketing Revolution by Jay Conrad Levinson. This book was actually given to me by my father and it is kind of what kick-started the whole direct marketing thing for me. Up until that point I was consumed with technology; the coding and design aspect of marketing.

And this is what really changed my mindset from the technology stuff to understanding and appreciating the psychological aspects of marketing.

In my teens I read the A-level study books for psychology, I absolutely loved it and even though I dropped it for a few years, this is what brought everything back to me. If you’ve read this book you know how powerful it is.

Ogilvy on Advertising

The next one is Ogilvy on Advertising. David Ogilvy was a marketing genius. It’s rumoured that in Mad Men the TV series, Don Draper was based on Ogilvy. This book has got some of his best adverts in there and I would recommend buying this just for the copy and use it as a swipe file because some of the best-known adverts in history are in this book – and they were created by Ogilvy.

Tricks of the Mind

This is where things start to veer off a little bit into the unusual. This book is by Derren Brown.

Derren is a magician but he uses some pretty cool psychological techniques to influence his audience, and he shares some of them in this book.

Now bearing in mind that the guy is a magician, he does put a few magic tricks in here but he also uses a lot of psychology, NLP and stuff that we can use in our marketing. This has been very inspirational to me.

Now, the thing about Derren Brown is that when he makes it look like mind control, it’s actually a magic trick. So you have to understand that most of what he is doing is an illusion and that the real mind control stuff is the stuff that looks like a magic trick.

He does it back to front to make it harder to figure out exactly how he is doing his tricks, but he does reveal some of the psychological as well as manipulation stuff. I suppose manipulation is a funny thing. It comes out of the intent really. I think of course we can use anything as a weapon if we choose to. It all comes down to our internal code and ethics and this book will give you a toolset that you can use to make your message clearer.

The Art of War

Another one that I would like to show you is The Art of War by Sun Tsu. If you’ve watched The Sopranos for more than five episodes you’ve probably heard about this book because they keep talking about it and for good reason.

In The Sopranos, they’re obviously a mafia family and they’re at war in different ways. One of my friends who recommended that I read this book summed it up really nicely.

He said, “The Art Of War is a book that teaches you how to get more of what you want without pissing anyone off.”

Basically, how to get more of what you want without annoying anyone or making enemies in the process.

And I found this to be a very easy to read book. There are a lot of little parables that will give you solid advice and help change the way you think about things, especially conflict.

In this business thing that we do, there is a lot of conflict, not just with the competition. In fact, I think that is really an old way of viewing things but sometimes we come up against it. So The Art of War by Sun Tzu is worth checking out. It will help you deal with people in a nicer way.

The Prince

The next one is called The Prince by Nicola Machiavelli. I’m sure you’ve all heard of the phrase ‘Machiavellian’, this is where it comes from. It is essentially a series of letters that Machiavelli had written to a prince and it is advice.

At the time this book was deemed almost satanic for the advice that it delivers but in today’s society, it is almost like a manual on how to survive.

Again, it comes down to the intention. Obviously, this stuff can be used for bad. Bad politicians use it in a negative way to deceive and to lie but again it’s all about the intention.

Words That Sell

We are coming to the end of this. Now, this isn’t the last book. It’s the second last book. It is Words That Sell and it is essentially a list of words, power words that you can use to grab attention and help your prospects feel a certain way. For example, it starts with the word authentic. So it gives you alternative words to use.

You could use the real thing, real life, true to life, value, legitimate, genuine.

These are all alternative words to authentic. It’s got hundreds and hundreds of words to help you improve your copywriting.

Breakthrough Advertising

The final book I’ve got for you. It is the big daddy of digital marketing even though it was written in 1966, Breakthrough Advertising. You’ve heard me talk about this before. It is by Eugene Schwartz and we probably wouldn’t have the modern day marketing funnel without it because it maps it all out. It describes the different segments of every market and it gives you the tools you need to communicate with every segment of that market more effectively.


I’ve gone through this book previously a couple of times on Profit Copilot but if you are interested in that one in particular, and it is an expensive book. I’ve got free videos and podcasts for you, to give you a flavor of what the book is about and to help educate and inform you of some of the valuable lessons you will find in the book.

If you are customer-centric, if your focus is on delivering value and making the world a better place these books will help you achieve it quicker.

1. YouTube channel

Influencers who have a large YouTube following make huge sums of money through their channel. One major means of making money through YouTube is through the Google advert program. For every advert viewed on your YouTube channel, you get to earn a few dollars from it. Though the earning from Google AdSense is not much, with a large following, one can easily live off YouTube channel earnings.

Kite found out that 31% of the marketers make money through this method.

7. Banner Ads

You must have seen banners which have your favorite musician or your favorite actor. The advertising companies pay huge sums of money to obtain the right of using such images on their banner adverts. After being interviewed, Kite found out that 28 percent of the influencers make money through this method. However, Kite also found out that it’s only 4% of the influencer who credit banner ads as a lucrative income stream.

This is the secret to building a profitable website and it only comes down to two components.

It doesn’t matter what kind of website you have, this is the formula that works on anything from an e-commerce website to a blog, and anything in between.

The Profit Formula

The two components that you need:

Traffic + conversion.

Sounds really simple, right?

Think about all the products and training courses out there designed to teach people how to monetize websites and make money on the Internet.

It all really only comes out to these two components; get traffic to your website and convert that traffic into customers.

The most popular mechanism for achieving that is of course the sales funnel.


What does the Funnel do?

The funnel allows you to move somebody from not knowing you, not knowing a thing about you, to trusting you enough to give you their credit card details.

So traffic + conversion = profit.

There are two main ways to get traffic to your website.

You can buy it through advertising, or you can get it organically through hard work.

Organically includes things like content marketing, social media marketing, and outreach marketing.

This means you can either buy your way into a niche or you can work your way in.


Buying Traffic vs Working for Traffic

Personally, I recommend that you do both.

For example, right now, today you might run an advertising campaign – while in the background you keep building your content, increasing the position on the search engines, and building an authority website.

Once they land on your website you should have system in place to convert those visitors into customers.

That system is built around automation, usually building an email list.

It can also be a retargeting campaign.

How you convert visitors into customers will depend on the type of website you have and your business model, but the two components that mentioned previously, the traffic + conversion formula is the same across every single website.

When it comes to driving traffic to your site, the more sources that you have, the better.

This lets you protect your business from external changes.


Protecting your Business

Let’s say that you are relying on SEO, and you get the majority of your traffic from Google.

That’s a bad situation to be in because if when Google makes a change to the algorithm (as we’ve seen them do countless times already), that change could have an impact on you.

In some cases businesses are severely damaged as a result of algorithm updates.

That means you have to diversify your traffic sources.

And particularly if you’re in the information business you also want to diversify your income streams too.

So, offer multiple products, use multiple business models and diversify so you’re making money in multiple ways.

And that’s about it.

6 Internet Marketers you can Trust

Trust is obviously in short supply online, so which internet marketers can you trust?

I’m going to tell you.

But first, I’m going to need to use a criteria when assessing Internet marketers.

The Criteria

1. They’ve got to be creating at least one piece of original content every single week.

2. They also need to have a solid track record of contributing positive content and information to the overall Internet marketing community.

3. They must have demonstrated their willingness to help less successful marketers.

4. And finally I must have experienced at least some level of personal interaction with them so I can feel confident in recommending them to you.

If they meet this criteria I know they’re not going to take advantage of you, they’re not going to sell you crap products and they’re not going to try and manipulate you.

It’s a fairly tough criteria but it needs to be, considering the way the industry is right now.

Obviously this is my personal opinion, based on my experiences with each person on this list.

Why did I make this list?

I’m sure you will have seen those hyped-up, income claim fuelled pitches that deliver very little value but make a whole heap of promises?

We’ve all seen that kinda stuff, but thankfully I think that mentality is dying.

I think the market is finally starting to wake up and realize that hype and income claims are bad news.

There’s a new wave of marketer – although some of these guys have been around for a long time, so they’re not new to the scene.

But they stand out against the noise because of the way they do business and the way they conduct themselves, the value that they contribute to the community is amazing.

Of course there are hundreds of decent and honest marketers around, but the ones that I get the most value from are the ones I’m going to tell you about.

Some of these guys are unsung heroes of our community, and that’s really the point of this.

It would be easy to make a list of a bunch of people that everybody knows about, but these are the people that inspire me and the ones that give me hope

Today I’m talking about the Guardians Instagram account and it’s phenomenal growth by 57% in just one year over 800,000 followers on the account.

So the funnel works like this; they use Instagram to lure people in to their funnel so they create engaging content for free in the hope that those people will become readers of their website and starting using their apps.

And then, eventually, those people will become paying members of the website.

That’s the basic structure of their funnel.

They achieve outstanding growth by focusing on core guidelines; to target a younger demographic.

So they are focusing on environmental issues, human rights issues, and animal welfare.

And they are also focusing on solutions – where other news organisations just focus on problems.

What are the mechanics of this?

How are they really achieving this kind of growth?

Well, they actually have a team of three people posting content every day – and then they have another entirely separate team that focus on distribution.

They also have journalists, video producers, and designers who all contribute content on the Instagram account and this really mixes things up and it keeps things interesting.

But it does make having a consistent editorial style a little bit of a problem for the Guardian.

The team, on average, post three pieces of content to Instagram per day.

And it’s a mix of original content that’s designed specifically for Instagram, and then they use existing content from the website, and then they also make sense some third-party content so they might use content from independent filmmakers.

They also have reoccurring Instagram stories.

These are really powerful because they hook people in and keep people interested in the brand.

One of those weekly stories is called ‘fake or for real’ and they ask Instagram followers to guess whether a story is fake news or not – and then a journalists will reveal the truth about the story.

And each one of those stories gets around 50,000 views per week.

Another story that they use on a regular basis is called ‘Brexit bites’.

This takes a complex issue like Brexit and simplifies it down to make it easy for their followers to understand.

So there you’ve just got all the main elements of a strategy that the Guardian newspaper are using to increase their Instagram following.

You Can Still Profit From YouTube Videos

So the big news today is from YouTube. They’ve just announced that they are demonetising hundreds of thousands of YouTube channels so I am going to offer you an alternative way to profit from your YouTube videos.

In order to qualify for monetisation on YouTube, channels now have to generate 4,000 hours of watch time per year plus have a minimum of 1,000 subscribers.

It’s a big ask of channels.

But I’ve got an alternative for you. You can still use your YouTube videos to drive traffic.

The business model I’m going to talk about has consistently been the most profitable online business model since the 1990’s and it is literally responsible for billions of dollars in revenue every year.

If you are creating content uploading YouTube videos or blog posts or creating other types of creating content this is the perfect business model for you because you are already doing the hard part.

Here’s what you got to do:

Get Your Own Website

First of all you need your own website you need a domain name and professional hosting.

I know that it’s tempting to go to or and use a free website but don’t do that.

If you step out of line with their Terms of Service they can shut you down.

And today we have found out just how painful it can be when a company that you that you rely on comes along and says they’re changing the rules, so don’t make this mistake again.

Get a proper domain name and get proper hosting that you have complete control over – invest the $5 a month.

Build a List

Then you’re gonna need an email list.

The people on the email list will become your tribe. Think of them like your YouTube subscribers – so invest a lot of time and energy into building your email list.

In order to get them to subscribe to your email list you need to give them something really valuable and that’s usually  called a lead magnet.

It’s something that will help them to solve their problem and something that’s very desirable that speaks specifically to those people.

Promote an offer

Once they subscribe to your email list you ask them to make a small purchase.

Nothing too crazy, a $7 or $10 item is perfect.

After they make that small investment you can then you pitch them a more expensive product.

That’s the perfect business model for YouTubers and content creators.

You see, when things like this happen, as entrepreneurs we always have to change and adapt.

That means you have complete control over everything in your business.

You’ll have something that will remain resilient bulletproof so any algorithm changes

And then you’re not relying on third parties to give you an income because you are making it for yourself.

That is true independence and freedom, isn’t it?

You can make thousands of dollars a month from an email list and you can do it on your own terms.

So carry on and don’t stop creating content because it’s one of the most valuable things that you can do.

And the YouTube changes might be a good opportunity for you to grow your business in different ways, that you might not have considered before today.

My personal opinion on the YouTube changes

I know there’s uproar about it, but I had to share my view on it because it might not be what you think.

As a smalltime YouTuber myself who has been affected by this, I’m in favour of what they’re doing… I think it’s a pretty good idea.

Okay so I won’t make any money from my YouTube videos for a long time to come.

Don’t build your business on someone else’s land

Listen, I know that if you are affected by this and you’re gonna lose revenue I sympathise with you… but don’t build your friggin’ business on YouTube, yeah?

I was talking to Ike Paz from Internet Marketing Gym this morning he said something really true about this.

He said that he does not own his channel – that no none of us own our YouTube channels.

YouTube can just shut down any channel they like, for whatever reason they like.

There are thousands of people out there who are trying to make a living on YouTube, who’s dreams have been destroyed.

But think about it.

Maybe this will make people wake up and realise they have to build their own resources and their own assets that they have complete control over.

Imagine if more people did that instead of creating all these wonderful pieces of content and just handing it over to YouTube and letting them decide what happens to it.

Seize control of your business

Maybe this will encourage people to set up their own systems their own websites, and have their own sales processes.

If people are trying to make money on the Internet maybe now they will realise that YouTube has never been a solid business model to invest your time into.

I invest an awful lot of time into YouTube as you know.

It’s a free video hosting platform for me and maybe I can get a bit of traffic from the videos I upload but I’ll be really honest with you.

A major reason why I upload so much to YouTube is to help with my social anxiety. Every time I upload it improves my social anxiety just a little bit.

It helps me get comfortable with the idea of  speaking in front of people.

And with the amount of videos you now have to upload to get to monetization… 4,000 hours of watch time per
year… that’s a crazy amount of videos.

So you gotta be real.

The rise of heart-centric YouTubers?

If you want to monetise your channel then you’ll have to use your passion, you’ll have to upload content that you feel strongly about – something that matters to you. Over and over, for a long time.

I think YouTube channels that focus creating heart-centric content will succeed.

We can still monetize from YouTube – we don’t need those little adverts. We just need the right mechanism running in the background.

You need:

  • A website
  • An email list
  • Something to promote

Maybe more people will start doing that, and start creating awesome products.

With the proper system in place, you can still profit from YouTube – just in a new, and potentially more lucrative way.

An entire persuasion course in a single sentence

Today I’m going to talk about the most persuasive sentence in history, at least in my opinion.

This is from a guy called Blair Warren who is one of the best persuasion gurus on the planet. Over the years I’ve learned a lot from his teachings.

The sentence that he’s created is one of the most persuasive ones you will ever hear:

“People will do anything for those who encourage their dreams, justify their failures, allay their fears confirm, their suspicions, and help them to throw rocks at their enemies.” – Blair Warren

I’ll get into exactly why this is the most persuasive sentence you will ever hear. But first, let me let me ask you something.

Have you noticed something about this sentence? You might notice that at no point does this provide an opportunity for you to talk about yourself or your products.

This is not about you – it’s is ONLY about your audience.

This is about your market and that’s because your audience don’t really care about you. They only care about themselves, and what you can do for them. It’s an uncomfortable truth.

And that’s ok because when you use this correctly, it puts you in a really positive position. It lets you deliver awesome value to your audience, and actually help them with their problem in a meaningful way.

This is how you become the trusted adviser that we’re supposed to be.

By removing the focus away from you and your achievements, and moving it on to your audience to focus on their needs, you will be able to align yourself with them more effectively.

So why should you encourage  people’s dreams?

Well, people need a belief in something and they need to feel that its possible to achieve their dreams.

When you tell them “yes it’s possible, and you can do it too”, you’re giving them something valuable – on a very deep emotional level that influences and changes their self-image.

When you do that, when you can change someone’s self-image even just a little bit, they will look to you because that kind of validation is addictive.

It’s your job to help your audience understand that they can achieve their dreams.

Justify their failures

Why should you justify their failures? People don’t really want to take responsibility for their mistakes.

So if you can give them a scapegoat or give them something else to blame then it means they don’t have to blame themselves.

And again, that emotion is addictive.

Allay their fears

Next why should you allay their fears?

Let me ask you something.

Think about a time when you were worried about something, or you were afraid and someone told you not to worry about it.

That probably didn’t mean much to you, and you probably didn’t look to that person for reassurance again, right?

They unintentionally minimised you feelings.

So instead of telling our prospects to not worry, it’s our job is to listen to their fears, accept that the fears are real and help them to work through those fears.

And maybe you have had the same fears too, and managed to overcome them. That’s another way to deliver value to your audience.

Confirm their suspicions

Why should we confirm their suspicions?

Simply put, people just want to feel right – they want to feel justified they want to be able to say to themselves “I knew I was right!”.

If you can help them to feel justified they’ll bond with you a lot quicker than someone who tries to tell them they were wrong.

Throw rocks at their enemies

The last thing is to help your audience to throw rocks at their enemies.

If you can discover an enemy that you both share then it’s just it’s a sign that you share the same values, on a subconscious level

Having a common enemy you will also help you to build rapport.

But let me say this; if you’re gonna find enemies in your marketplace then I wouldn’t pick on individuals.

I would encourage you to pick on ideas and values instead.

This prevents you from appearing like a bully or damaging people’s business.

Find something wrong with your industry and attack that.

Chances are whichever flaws or problems exist in your industry your potential customer will probably already feel like that is their enemy.

Tap into resentment that already exists, instead of trying to create new enemies.

Using these 5 persuasive insights

Consider all of these insights, really do think it over and how each one applies to your industry.

Think about how you can inject more of these into your sales pages, blog posts, podcasts.

And when you do, I can almost guarantee that when you do, you will receive a better response from your audience as a result.

They will see you as someone who is on their side, and you might even become their champion.

When you have all of these five points spread throughout your overall message, you can use it to deliver more value to your niche. And that ultimately helps people see that you are the person they really need to be listening to.

Increasingly, the best way to obtain freedom and success from an online business is to build an authority website.

I’m going to walk you through some of the best reasons to do that right now.

You actually wake up every day and feel really good and excited to get started on the days work because you know that it’s gonna be a day filled with fun and passion – and hard work too, of course.

And then the sixth thing that I’m gonna talk about is when you do this when you create content on a regular basis you’re creating lifetime assets.

Now, if you’ve ever read ‘Rich Dad, Poor Dad’ then you’ll know all about the value of creating assets.

These pieces of content, these valuable assets that you creating, are going to reward you over and over again for many years to come.

When I create a video or a blog post, although I’m giving highly valuable content away for free, I know that over the course of the lifetime of my business, that content is going to pay for the time that it took to make thousands of times over because it’s going to bring new leads into my business.

That’s because through the free content, I am demonstrating that I actually know what I’m talking about.

It’s easy for people to see that I’m not doing Profit Copilot just to try and take their money.

I’d be silly to pass up the opportunity to make extra sales, but they can see that I’m doing this website to genuinely help them for free, because I’ve already built a legitimate business outside of the make money online niche.

Make a positive contribution

The seventh and final thing that I’d like to talk about is that you leave your niche in a better position than when you found it.

You contribute something positive to that niche, that will have impact on people’s lives to help them improve a situation – even if it’s just a little bit.

And that in itself adds to the whole feeling of reward, and that leads to more profit to your bottom line.

So there you go, if you’re still on the fence about building an authority website then go through these tips again because this stuff is so important for the longevity of your business.

If you want to be around in five years time, or in ten years so this is the mentality you have to get into. This is how you have to start thinking about your business.

Stop thinking in the short term and start thinking long term.

A weird, but stealthy pricing strategy that can boost your profit

Here I’m going to give you a stealth pricing strategy that you can use to immediately boost your sales.

It’s weird, and it’s illogical but it works.

You can file this one under either ‘pure customer persuasion’… or providing ‘pure customer clarity’, depending on your point of view.

Either way, it’s a powerful way to dramatically boost your profits.

There’s a very famous pricing strategy from The Economist, look at this:

The pricing options

As you can see there are three pricing options.

The first one is for a web-only subscription, and that is priced at $59.

The second one is a print-only subscription and that is for $125.

And then the third option is is both print and web subscription for $125 – which is the same price as the print option.

So what happened?

The most profitable pricing option

Well, an MIT study found some really interesting results when they ran their own experiment.

Using this formula they found that:

  • 16% of people chose the online subscription
  • 0% chose the print subscription
  • 84% of people chose both online and print

This tells us that the most expensive option is obviously the better value for money and the most desirable option available.

Things get weird

But what happened when the second option was removed?

Because nobody opted for it, there was no point in offering it, right?

Well, something  really interesting happened.

  • 68% people took the first option, web-only subscription
  • 32% took the most expensive one, print and web subscription

So what does this mean?

The ‘useless’ middle option that nobody wanted actually made the more expensive option look like a really good offer.

When we look at the bigger picture, it helped people to make up their mind more efficiently because they could seek they could clearly see which the which was the best deal on the table.

The next time you need to price a new product, if you throw this strategy into the mix you might find that it’s an easy way to boost your bottom line.
